Ramen-ya On the Block

From time to time, when the cook in the Bishop's House is on vacation or something, we order food from a nearby restaurant. This restaurant's name is Kato. I believe I'd tasted most of the food on their menu. I love the yakisoba, the fried pork, and course their ramen.

Kato makes its own noodles. Their cook prepare it simple and fast. The place had become famous in the area. If your feet brings you to Niigata Catholic Church for a visit, a few minutes away is Kato's place where you can have a fill.

NOTE: Remember Tamuro's? I happen to pass by Tamuro's last week, and it's gone!

Curry Ramen, Not Curry Udon!

Have you heard of Curry Ramen? You might have heard of Curry Udon! One usual Sunday, after chatting with some guys in the neighborhood, we decided to go for Ramen Trip. We first went to "Tamuro's Ramen-ya." However, the place was closed! We were shocked!!! We then unisoned, how about the place near the expressway? We arrived in Muginzo Ramen-ya and got sitted after a couple of minutes.
My companions chose their usual favorites. I chose Kare Ramen (Curry Noodles). When it arrived, I took a picture of it. As you can see in the picture: the soup seems sticky, there are slices of fried chicken, and filled with tomato chunks and pepper.

This kind of ramen is not yet that popular. But I think there will come a time it will become famous, and every ramen-ya will try to offer it. Curry Ramen? A sure delight!

Express Way Ramen

On December 23, I was on my way to Tokamachi to give a recollection to a group of Filipinos. Since I have not eaten breakfast, I stopped at a parking area. I was supposed to eat a bread, but when I saw an extra-ordinary ramen, I decided to taste it eventhough I was not that hungry. As the name suggests which is Nihon-kai (Japan Sea), it was seafood ramen. Though the title was extra-ordinary, it was like one of the ordinary ramens that I tasted before. With a prize almost a thousand yen, I think that was too much to ask. I suggest making it something like 500 yen or less.

When I heard the news of selling different kinds of ramen in the express way, I was excited! I might order Horse Ramen to make me strong...

Ramen Keeps Us Alive

On December 16, Nora came to attend Mass in Niigata. I heard that it was her birthday. I invited her for bowl or ramen... a ramen which I believe she has never seen or tasted before. Having said that, I brought her to Kazan!
Nora loves noodles! According to her, it makes us live longer... (hmmm). Nora ordered Tonkotsu Ramen in a Super-Hot Bowl. I went for Tan-Tan (Hot) Ramen. Tonkotsu is one of my faves but I often choose things that are extra-ordinary hehehe. Nora enjoyed her bowl of ramen... I perspired eating mine (huh).

Nora later thanked me for bringing her to such a place wherein she enjoyed a very different kind of Tonkotsu ramen. I responded with: I just want to make you happy on your birthday!

And she smiled. (^_^)v
